The Fight Against Gum Disease

The Fight Against Gum Disease

Gum disease is a very common in today’s health industry. The disease occurs when the gum line is swollen or inflamed. The disease can affect the bone that supports your teeth.

There are three stages of gum disease, gingivitis, periodontitis and advanced periodontitis. Once there is bleeding while you brush or floss your teeth, it is gingivitis. Some of the warning signs are swollen, red, tender or bleeding gums. The gums can also recede from the tooth. Persistently bad breath or a bad taste in the mouth is also an indicator. You should also check if teeth feel loose or you find pus around your teeth or gums. Periodontitis means there is bone loss around the tooth, usually the bone couldn’t return to normal once it happened. If caught in early stages of gingivitis, gum disease can be reversed!

The best solution at these early stages is to keep good oral hygiene habits. This means, brushing twice a day, flossing, and keep a healthy balanced diet. These are essentials to fighting gum disease! The most important thing is to check your teeth and gum with dentist regularly, normally every 6 months. Your dentist will access your gum and bone status then give you advise accordingly. If you could not keep your gum healthy by yourself, then you need dental professional help which including teeth cleaning, or deep cleaning even gum surgery.
